Which gauge liner? Help needed

Postby RingoQ » Thu 19 Feb, 2009 12:57

I find two gauges of above ground replacement liners when looking online, 20 & 25 gauge. Is there really that much difference in the thickness, or quality, of the liners to justify the added cost of the 25 gauge?
Is it my case? thanks

My pool salesman stated to get the 20 gauge for the same reason the poster above me stated. He also told me the 20 gauge has more flex and won't tear as easily. Now of course if it gets punctured all things are equal. I would imagine after 10 years the liner would be rather faded and you would want to replace it anyway.

It really doesn't matter which gauge you decide to go with. The thicker the gauge the tougher the vinyl. It will on the other hand have less elasticity than a thinner gauge pool liner. Both gauges are fine to use.

Once it is unfolded and exposed to sunlight and chlorinated water, the vinyl will harden into it's permanent shape.

It really comes down to how much you're willing to spend.
