Brown sand on bottom of my pool

Postby rsoxfan » Mon 23 Feb, 2009 19:04

have an inground saltwater pool in texas... appears to be dust on the bottom... i have brushed it but it just moves around and settles on the bottom again (i assume it is not algae or it would break up)

how do i get rid of this? or maybe it is algae? i am a new pool owner so bear with me as maybe i need to check my readings to see if I have the right balance of chemicals?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

That dust will just go right through the filter and back to the pool. You need to coagulate the small particles into larger ones so the filter can grab them, then backwash them out. Get a clarifier from your local store. Its a very good idea to vacuum to waste for the next while as you try to remove that debris.
