Heat Pump for above ground pool

Postby Sunny35 » Tue 17 Mar, 2009 17:49

I am considering purchasing a heat pump for my above ground pool. It seems most information I read is about heating for in ground pools. Anyone have a heat pump with an above ground pool? I live in Illinois and want to know if it will actually be worth the money. Any input would be great.

Above ground pools lose heat much faster than inground pools because the walls of the pool are open and exposed. Apart from that you could use a pool heater.

have you considered a solar cover?

If it adds to your pool pleasure and you are happy to pay the installation and running costs then it is worth it.

I do use a solar cover to capture the solar heat and to keep it from escaping during the cooler nights.
