Old pool with Algae

Postby onesilvertruck » Mon 06 Apr, 2009 23:08

My wife and I would like to find out what it would take to get the pool @ my mothers house in usable shape. It's 35 years old, inground, approx 15 x 30, its some sort of gunnite pool with some sort of marble dust finish.

The pool is very green, hasnt been used since the early 90's. It does not appear to leak. Where do I start?? Do I try to run the equipment? Clean the water? Pump the pool dry and start over? Any help would be great.

i am going back to the pool Friday, so thanks!

Try get some info on the pump and filter. They need to be up and running when you start.

The pool will most likely need to be drained considering it has sat for 15 years or more. Who knows what lurks inside. :wtf:

Any details here will help us help you.

Thanks pool user. I will try to get the pump info this weekend.

Should I try to see if the pump, etc will work at all before draining?

How long can a pool sit empty before problems start?
