Pine Needles in the Northwest...arghhhh

Postby Chris007 » Wed 08 Apr, 2009 11:58

After opening my pool I spend hours after each wind storm removing needles. Is there a better solution The current leaf basket is a metal, rectangle (P-24?) and the holes are large and therefore do not stop the needles. Is there another solution?
Has anyone tried fabricating a new metal box using a product traditionally used to keep the roof gutters free of needles.

Does your wife wear pantyhose? Cut the feet out of the old ones and stretch them into the pump basket and/or the skimmer basket. When they get a little full just pull em out and toss em.

Mmm. Or if your wife doesn't wear them, maybe your girlfriend does?

Thanks Swimming Pool Wizard. I've tried both the pantyhose and the official skimmer basket covers but they only last a few days. I was hoping to find something a bit more permanent. Maybe my expectations are too high.
