Hello All,
I have a 24' round and I was just given a lomart ultima 5000 de filter with a hayward 1 hp pump is this filter good enough for my size pool ? and when I backwash how much de should I put back in ?
I have always used sand filters but when my old sand filter died a buddy of mine gave me this filter

We had just had the same question. We changed from Hayward to a Lowmart. The woman I spoke with was very knowledgeable she said for our filter which is quite large about a 1b or a lb and a half. of DE eath. The internet addy is www.colleys.com Good luck!

Hi again, we just spoke to another pool man and he said for a large DE filter between 4 and 6 lbs of earth. He said if your filter is clean when you add the earth and it goes over 30 psi you will know you added too much.... what to do.........hm we took the middle ground kind of and added about 4lbs seems to be working...again good luck.

Hi all, I just got an Ultima 5000 at a yard sale. When I got it back I noticed on the side it looks like a tear drop shaped cut out had been made and resealed. Is this a factory job???? Anybody have the same thing? Its about 6 inches by 3. Kenny

I have the instructions and it takes 1.5 lbs. Which they say is the equivalent of 3 , 1 lb coffee cans. I also have the tear shape

It comes from the factory with that tear drop shape
