Water leaking from filter

Postby GAPER39 » Mon 18 May, 2009 20:13

I have just opened my pool for the season and i have noticed today that water is coming out from the backwash pipe when the lever is set to filter. I have changed the gasket today and water is still coming out. Not sure what to do....

Any suggestions?

My filter is an Hayward model number S-190T

I get the best results for this problem by simply installing a good quality cut off valve (such as a Jandy No Lube valve) on the waste line, just after the multiport valve. I did one today, as a matter of fact. The spider gaskets are usually good for a few years when they're new, but a lot of them eventually blow out to waste. You can replace the spider gasket, but you'll have the same problem again, sooner or later. Install a valve, you'll be much happier in the long run.

I put the plug for the skimmer in it. Only thing is, you have to remove it and screw back in the fitting for the hose to connect to when you want to backwash. Only takes a minute though.
