Vacuuming to Waste on DE Filter

Postby 89 Saleen#455 » Fri 29 May, 2009 08:25

Does anyone know if it's possible to Vacuum-to-Waste with a Hayward Perflex DE Filter?

I've got a Hayward EC50 DE filter for a 24ft above ground pool. I'm trying to figure out a way to vacuum to waste when I open the pool with heavy amounts of dead alge. I realize I'll loose a ton of water vacuuming to waste, but it's lot eaiser to refill the pool with 2" of water vs. pulling out 150ft of discharge hose 4-5 times a day for 10 days straight backwashing the DE filter which gets loaded with dead alge within 1 hour of use.

Anyone know of any other way to create a vacuum using the the telescopic pole and vacuum head. I've heard some people say they've had success with creating a "natural vacuum" / siphon with the vacuum head.

Any suggestions?

Thank You,
Rich

yes you can, just watch water line at skimmer & have water filling pool & the same time. when done add DE back into filter.
