And no you don't have to pee in the pool. If anyone has a smaller above ground pool you should look into heating your pool with your home water heater. Though there isn't any significant capital costs with this approach (i.e. it's "free" in the sense that you don't have to by a gas pool heater), it's obviously not free in terms of the heating since you pay for the gas that is used by the hot water heater. It will cost basically the same in terms of ongoing costs as a standard gas pool heater -- actually more since the heating isn't efficient (since it starts heating from colder water rather than warmer pool water and it heats hotter than needed so more heat loss during delivery).
