Running filter 24/7

Postby barbaranna » Sat 27 Jun, 2009 01:46

I run my filter around 6-8 hours a day, but when it is time for a problem and you should run your filter constantly I am afraid to do that thinking that the motor will burn out on the pump. Is it really ok to run that much constantly?

It is ok to run it continuously. They are designed to do that. If there is debris in the pool that you feel will plug up the skimmer or pump baskets then probably not a good idea to run without you around to clean them out. My pool gets tons of leaves in there. I know if I let the pump run overnight when the wind is blowing the skimmer basket will plug up and that can reduce or stop the water flow. That can cause problems.

If you don't have alot of leaves or debris that might plug things up, you can run 24/7.
