Greenish/yellowish water

We are new pool owners (above ground) and have a serious problem. Our pool water looks yellowish/green. I know the water is supposed to be clear blue but it looks nothing like that. Any assistance on how to fix this would be great!! I don't know if this helps but we do have hard water.

If the water is clear it is probably a metal problem - iron or copper are the most common.

If the water is cloudy and the walls have a film on them it is algae. A good shock treatment combined with an algicide should do the trick.
