I have a Pentair IC40 and have a 10K gallon pool. I have heard someone say that having an over sized unit for my pool can lead to a high TDS. I cannot think of any way that an SWG would have any effect on TDS's?
My feeling was that an over sized SWG just has more elements inside so will cruise along at a lower setting.
Is this true?

The size of the SWG has nothing to do with increased TDS. Whether you have an IC-20, IC-40, or the new IC-60, they take the same amount of salt. The bigger tthe SWG, the less you run it. I have a 14,000 gallon pool and run my IC-40 SWG about 2.5-3 hours out of every 24 which keeps 5 ppm chlorine in my pool.
I run the pump 15 hours a day and keep the IC-40 at 15-20%
