The water in the pool is slightly green, and there are deposits of sand on the bottom after I run the pump on filter. any ideas?

the most likely cause of sand being introduced into the pool is usually caused by a damaged lateral in the sand filter.

A lateral is a part in the inside of the filter. They are sometimes called fingers. If one becomes cracked, broken, etc. sand will escape out into the pool and also when you backwash. It''s a hard job since yhou have to take the filter apart and empty all the sand since the laterial is at the bottom of the filter. You have to be careful when you replace the sand as to not break another laterial. It will be around a 3 or 4 hour job by the pool store, longer if you do it yourself.
