We want to leave our home in Cabo San Lucas Mexico for 10 months. Is it o'k to drain the pool? It is a concrete constuction with pepple finish.

You'd be better off winterizing and covering it.

Leaving it full is way better than emptying but uncovered poses a health threat (moquitoes, bugs) and could be a drowning hazard for kids and animals.

Empty pools can collect rain and pose much the same problems as an uncovered full pool. Additionally the pool can "float" out of the ground if the water table rises. The surface finish tends to break down and can start lifting when openly exposed to climatic extremes.

This seems like a good solution, good luck!
