Wiring heater to Intermatic timer questions
I would leave the intention of an automatic switching of the heater aside.
The timers are either 120V or 240V(230V). It should be supplied with the wiring schematic.
Usually the 2 terminals on the left are the line side of a contactor and also the supply side for the timer clock.
The next 2 terminals will be the switched side, also called load side.
Any pool store or Home depot will give you a sketch of a wiring the particular model if you take it there.
If it is mounted, take a snapshot and model #.
No responsible person will give you such without actually seeing the timer in question.
Like a sweep booster pump, this timer has to be wired as a secondary to a main pump timer, meaning its line side coming from the load side of the pump.

Wiring heater to Intermatic timer questions
Wire the heater to the two "load" sides of the timer. This will switch the heater off at the same time the pump shuts down.
Note: I strongly recommend that you use a fireman's switch as well. The switch mounts to your time clock and interrupts the safety circuit on the heater about 15 min before the pump is scheduled to shut off. This will prevent the heater from running at the moment the timer shuts off the pump. This also allows for a proper cool down.
