Brown colored spots on bottom of pool

Postby dustyrog » Wed 28 Apr, 2010 14:05

Hello everyone. I am hoping that someone out there can help me. We just opened our pool for the year and installed an Intex Salt Water System. After running it for the first time these brown spots starting appearing all over the bottom of the pool. I can vacum them, but they return shortly afterwards. If you get in they get stirred up in the water, but reappear within an hour or so. Our test kit for free chlorine, ph, etc.. shows all normal. Can anyone give me any suggestions?

Check to see if your iron or manganese levels are too high or do you have well water? If you have any more questions feel free to call 1800pools.com at 1800-890-8185 and ask for Steve. He will be able to answer any questions you have.

Could possibly be Mustard algae. It is fluffy and just settles back after a while. Have you noticed a strain on chlorine ?

We set up our saltwater system a couple of weeks ago and are having the exact same problem. Any answers for this?
