footprints on pool floor

My contractor left big, deep bootprints in the bottom of the pool. We did not notice until after he was paid. Initially he came back out and acknowledged that it needed to be fixed, but he has dodged our calls for almost 10 months. Will the liner have to be replaced or can it be taken loose and the pool floor smoothed and then re-attached?
