Need a new pump

Postby SoCalPool » Sat 08 May, 2010 13:06

Whats the best pump for a 20k gallon pool/spa combo. The spa has 4-5 jets and the pool cleaner is suction from the single skimmer. My 2hp 230v single speed bit the dust and I want to upgrade to a newer model.

Thanks

Replacing the motor/impeller/seals/gaskets I know is an option but I may as well just get a whole new unit after dumping all the money and time into rebuilding the old.

Any Pump with below configuration is useful for a 20k gallon pool.
21k gal, plaster IG pool with spa
Main - 1 skimmer, 1 main drain, 3 returns, Spa - 1 drain, 4 returns
WhisperFlo Dual Speed WFDS 1.5 HP pump
S310S 30" sand filter
Polaris 360 pressure cleaner

Try for it . Worthful to use

It sounds like you run the spa jets with same pump as circulation so if you like the feel of the jets, I would not downsize the pump. However, you could easily go with a 2 HP two speed so when filtering the pool you are not using so much energy. If you have any other features or cost is no object, a variable speed will give you the most flexibility and provide multiple speeds for the jets. Some good options would be the Whisperflo series for the two speed and Intelliflo for the variable speed.
