Cloudy water & pool cough

Has anyone here experienced 'pool cough' - I had it as a kid and have apparently picked it up from my pool. I will post my test numbers tomorrow (its raining now), but I have been in the pool cleaning it up, getting it ready for summer, my 2 main problems with the pool is sand, which came from the ladder which was incorecctly stored by pool service person last fall, and cloudy water when viewed from underneath - looks clear from deck, but underwater is cloudy.

Any idea what causes 'pool cough' - bacteria, alge, etc? I'm eating 2+bottles of cough syrup a day and have no idea what I contracted or how to treat (both me and the pool).

I have a cartridge filter, and have changed the filter 2x so far this year, pool wasn't dirty when it was winterized, but has been a @#%&!@ to clean up, I've been working in it since mid April (in very cold water!) and I think I finally have most of the sand, thanks to my new robitic cleaner.

Any thoughts will be appreciated, will post #'s tomorrow.
