Vacuum Accident!

Postby jay1218 » Sun 06 Jun, 2010 21:31

Ok, I cleaned my pool this evening and just as I was finishing up I looked over and the strainer basket was sitting in the middle of the driveway. The vaccum was accidentally hooked up this way and quite a bit of dirt and leaves got sucked directly into the water line feeding into the pump, filter, auto chlorinator etc. I immediately shut the pump off and disconnected the vacuum and I am leaving the pump off for now. I am assuming I'll have to take the main fitler apart and clean this out. What else should I do and should I be concerned about any damage to the pump or other parts of the pump/filter system? Everything seemed to be opperating normally (no weird sounds or loss of pressure) but there is no dirt returning into the pool so I know it's still trapped somewhere in the filtering system. Thanks to whoever can help me out.
