Leaky PVC pipe

Postby rjohnson67 » Thu 17 Jun, 2010 15:36

Hi there, I just noticed a leak in the pipe connecting the filter to the pool. I was wondering if silicone would be a good fix for it. Also, if silicone is a good fix, how does buying silicones online sound?

Silicone probably won't work, especially if the leak is on a pressure line. You're best bet is to cut out the leak and replumb the section. If that's not feasible, the next best solution is to patch the leak with a product called Plast-Aid. It is a 2 part mix that bonds to plastic - very effective. The final solution that I would consider would be to repair the leak with epoxy. Using Pool Putty, place it over the leak and smooth it out, then wrap it with electrical tape to support it and hold it in place
