put baquacil algecide in chlorine pool, help!

I know this was stupid on my part, but now I need help! My local pool store sold me baquacil algecide. I didn't know what it was, I just thought it was a brand name. No one ever asked if I had a chlorine pool. Well, I've been using it for a couple of weeks. The water has been cloudy. I've been adding chlorine shock very often because I've had trouble getting the levels up. Now the water has turned green. Could this be because of the mixed chemicals? I am so confused! Is it okay just to get chlorine algecide and proceed from here, or is it going to be a problem all season?
