Birds Destroying Pool Toys

I have owned the above ground pool for 8 years, this is the first I am having this issue. Not sure if this is birds or squirrels. First, solar cover got destroyed, which was due for replacement so I wasn't that upset. This morning I noticed that all inflatable toys are deflated. Upon closer inspection noticed a hole in every one of them. Not one survived! And they started on a new solar cover again. I am pretty sure this is birds. Any suggestions other that a 12-gauge would be appreciated. I am going nuts with t his.
