PH problems

Postby jpk1a873 » Thu 11 Aug, 2005 17:19

I have a 18 X 36 x 8 inground pool.
Inline self Chlorinator.
I run the filter about 8 hours per day.
My Chlorine levels are ok.
It's the PH. I could drop 5 LBS of PH increaser and 3 hours later the levels are ok. BUt the next day. NO PH..
Any ideas??
I have repalced my test kit so it is reading ok..

Hi,
Sorry, but you can't have "no" pH. The water is either acidic or alkaline with 7.0 being neutral.
Usually when you are fighting pH problems it is due to the Total Alkalinity being too high or too low. This should be in the range of 80 - 120 PPM. The pool pro books all say that TA is the first part of water balance you adjust when filling a pool with fresh water. Once TA is in the proper range everything else falls into place. Let me know if I can provide you with any further information.
