I always thought that soda ash raises the pH, but the Pool Calculator app says it lowers the pH.

Yes, so it's a bug in the app. I've reported it, so it's up to them.

Well done, hopefully they will correct it. The program was originated by Jason Lyon a very nice chap although some fixed views but he sold it so no idea where it is now.
