How much chlorine gets used with a chlorinator?

I am thinking of switching from liquid to a chlorinator. I have a 16x32 w/ deep end that holds about 23000 gallons. How many pounds per day will I go thru? I want to calculate which is cheaper.

I wouldn't, unless you are going to switch to a Salt Water Chlorine Generator.

Why is that?

Because most people who have them tend to get too much stabilizer or other included chemicals in their pool. Too much stabilizer means less effective chlorine at "normal" levels. Some pucks put too much calcium in the pool. It depends on the puck ingredients.

Basically, people who use pucks and/or pool store shock, tend to get their water in trouble. They think it's a panacea to pool care effort. They tend to not test their pool regularly and things get out of hand and it can do so in a hurry. Most don't even realize what is in the puck/shock they are using.

Feeders and floaters with pucks are okay to use while on vacation.

It takes a lot less time, effort and money to keep on top of your pool regularly than to fix it after letting it get out of control.
