Chlorinating, maintaining the right chlorine levels,
chlorine problems. Dichlor, trichlor, cal hypo, bleach,
granules, chlorine pucks and chlorine sticks.

my free cl is higher than combined cl so i would have a - total cl, what can i do

No, I think you may be using the wrong calculation.

TC = FC + CC

TC - CC = FC

TC - FC = CC

CC = bad chlorine/chloramines, what smells, stings your eyes and is ineffective at sanitizing.

FC = good chlorine

TC is the total of good chlorine plus bad chlorine.

What you need to do is to add more chlorine, at shock level, so that it gets rid of the CC. The goal is to have 0 CC.
