Hi to all....new to the forum.
I'm a general contractor and working pn a very large project.
Part of the project is an unground pool in the Basement of a detached multi-use structure.
The home owner requested that the pool be a very light blue.
The pool subcontractor agreed to use light blue plaster.
The results are so bad that I cannot show the pool to my home owner yet.
The pool was plastered and filled about 3 weeks ago and now that the water is crystal clear the bottom and sides are a horrible streaked blue/white/light blue with every brush stoke showing....vertical down the walls and horizontal across the bottom. The pool is 15'x30'x5'D.
Even the area around the (2) drains on the bottom show the circular pattern of the colored plaster troweled in a circular motion.
The pool sub insists that this is normal and happens with ALL colored plasters.
I build large houses but the pool was always done by the Home Owner.
This is my first experience contracting the pool.
I will try to take pics tomorrow to show the pool but please tell me if I'm being out of line with the pool sub or am I being had? I need input from people with more knowledge and experience than I have on this subject.
Thanks!
joel

Re: Issues with Colored Pool Plaster
Hi
I have never built a pool. However I am a sub contractor and consultant on commercial projects.
Part of the issue here is local conditions which I am not familiar with. It is possible the specific color selected does look a bit patchy. However a quick check with the plaster supplier should verify if this is the case. I think I would ask the pool contractor whose product he used. If he starts hedging then why? If he says 'Mac' pool plaster company call and ask a rep to come and have a look. Should be simple enough to sort.
Hope that helps.
