Rust marks from Steel Wool Pad

Postby Jjakma » Sat 21 Aug, 2021 10:09

Hello, we have a newly replastered pool that was done the end of May in white plaster. A month ago we discovered a leak in our light so our pool needed to be drained below the light. The pump the pool company used to drain the water left a rust ring on our step. As the pool began to fill up, the plaster guy cleaned the ring of rust with a steel wool pad. The ring disappeared but now we have an even bigger problem. The next day the entire step where he rubbed the steel wool now has little rust specks all over. Also, he rubbed a corner wall on the deep end and there is rust marks there as well. Each spot he rubbed has these rust “freckles”.

The pool company has tried multiple things to fix it with no success, even stating it could be a mineral however the only logical reason why we would even have rust marks isolated and concentrated in the areas that were scrubbed with the steel wool pad would be because of the microparticles left from the steel wool pad, correct?

Has anyone had an issue like this or suggestions on how to fix this?

Has anyone used products from poolstainremovers.com?

Use Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) or Muriatic acid (Hydrochloric acid)

I may not give you the answer you want to hear, but I will give an honest opinion of your situation as you decribe it.

As were the people that put a rusty pump in the pool and used wire wool
