Low Wall Suction Line Plugged While Filter Pump is Running

Postby 16x32igpool » Mon 18 Jun, 2012 12:27

I have a question about the suction line. My pool has 1 low wall suction line located at the deep end and 1 skimmer and 1 return line.

My low wall suction line has a strong vaccum. The problem is that there is a leak inside the suction line somewhere and I was wondering if I can put a plug in the suction line and just use the skimmer to filter the water without harming the suction line? Will it harm the suction line?

Thank you for any response anyone can provide.

Assuming that you can valve off the low wall suction line, I don't see a problem with plugging the wall fitting and valving off the line, as long as the pump doesn't strain and there is no change in filter pressure when operating on skimmer only.
