Diamond brite over diamond brite?

I have some construction being done at my house, and i had to drain the pool for it. I figured i would give the pool a good cleaning while it was empty. Then the wife got involved and asked about resurfacing. So i guess my question is - can you put diamond brite right on top of the old diamond brite coating? The old surface is in good condition itself, but its over 10 years old, and we want a different color. I would love to do it myself, but if we have to take off the old diamond brite, and possibly the plaster to redo both, i am not sure i could get that done in a reasonable amount of time.
