refinish pool

Postby Rick L. » Tue 07 Jul, 2009 11:01

I need to refinish my gunite pool. I've been told that the best time to do this is when it's not too hot. Is this true. I'd like to do it ASAP. It ranges from 95 to 105 degrees here in the summer.

Also, I may want to try pebbletec. I know it's double the cost. Any feedback?

its ok to plaster in hot weather, just not fun to be a plasterer on a 100 degree day. have the pool filled with tanker trucks to avoid check cracking.

Refinish pool

Like with anything else, stay the middle ground. Pebble tech may be too exotic and harder to selfclean automatically. More crevices, more hiding spots for starting algae. Lot of people complain of abbrasive problems. I resurfaced my pool with DiamondBrite recently and I have nothing but praise. Very dense coverage with quartz stone, minimum chlorine loss, low acid consumption for a new surface, beautiful color.
Also I put a 55lb of boric acid 2 weeks after start up to provide a help with keeping algae at check.
Most important is to select really dependable crew!
