I just replaced my Hayward Super II (1.5 HP/230V) pump yesterday (same type, etc.). I followed the instructions exactly, wired it the same way the old pump motor was wired (I took before pictures with my cell phone just to be sure), primed it and started it up. It runs beautifully and is quieter than the old one. The only thing I didn't do was to replace the seals, however nothing is leaking. The problem is that the motor is hot to the touch. Is there something wrong? This pump is brand new.

All pump motors will accumulate heat to touch. The only thing I would question, is the horsepower/pool size ratio. Make sure, that the pump is not starving for water supply. It is given by pipe size, filter size, clean strainer, back pressure, etc. 1HP, even 3/4 should do the job on 13000 gal for a less electricity.
