Intex pressure gauge always showing a high reading

Postby rounj02 » Wed 16 Jun, 2021 11:27

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone else has had issues with the Intex pressure gauge always showing a high reading into the red when in use/idle, and even if it's disconnected from the 6 way valve etc.

So idle/off/disconnected is 24psi/and running is 38psi.

It's my 3rd year of owning the setup and this is the first year I've noticed it, I've tried the below other than replacing the glass media/deep clean/gauge itself.

1. The pool is drained each year so it's not clogged with debris or algae, makes good pressure with the 2800gph pump, etc
2. Plenty of backwashes and rinses which made no difference at all, water is spotless.
3. 6-way valve removed from the filter and cleaned with the hose a few bit of debris came out but nothing out of the ordinary
4. Glass media is 3 years old in good condition and levels are fine
5. No blockages in any piping, o ring's checked on the whole system
6. I have an air heat source pump and the pressure is high if that's connected or not.
7. tapping the gauge does make the needle move slightly

Unless I've missed anything above the other things I'm thinking of trying would be completely removing the media, checking the center pipe and extensions for blockages, and trying another gauge as I don't think they can be adjusted manually.

Any help appreciated.

Try a new gauge, they do fail

A new gauge resolved the problem.
