Algae Problem

Postby mcwebb » Mon 12 Jun, 2006 10:34

Hello everyone, I'm new, but got some useful tips on how to treat my algae problem here, thanks so much.

We shocked it twice over a period of 24 hours, and got the water pretty clear. However, there is a ton of leaves and debris on the bottom.

When I attempt to vac the pool, the issue is my filter gets clogged every 2 minutes, and I have to bump it. The DE only lasts about 10-15 minutes before I have to backwash and add new DE. Trying to 'scoop' the debris out, only results in stirring all of it back up and clouding the water so that you can't see the bottom.

How can I possibly vac the pool or otherwise remove all the debris?

I have a 24' round doughboy, it's 4' deep, no deep end. The filter is a Hayward EC40 DE, Hayward 1.5hp pump. The filter does not have the option to vac to waste.

Any ideas or help would be so appreciated, this is driving us crazy.
