Toy sucked up in skimmer plumbing

Postby CLTBluesman » Sun 02 Aug, 2020 01:57

Ok, I am brand new to pools. Had a concrete/plaster pool installed. Been open one month. Without getting into how, a little toy shark about the size of a small banana get past the basket and got sucked into the plumbing. I turned off the pump at the breaker box.

I started a siphon with the garden hose with the hose stuck down the pipe under the skimmer basket. I figure the siphon will stop when the water is not high enough to enter the skimmer box.

My plan is to use the shop vac with the pointy nozzle wrapped in duct tape to get a good seal, and hopefully suck it back.

If that does not work, I don't know what I will do. I do not want to leave it in because I am afraid leaves or whatever will get stuck on it and make a clog.

Wish me luck.
John

If you are trying to suck it out there would be no need to reduce your level
It may be a good idea to disconnect the suction pipe from the pump
The other alternative would be to blow it back from the pump end
