Return "Eyeballs" Missing / Odd Size Pipe - HELP!

Postby LOUIS » Sat 15 May, 2010 19:28

We bought an older home 2 yrs. ago. The inground pool was re-surfaced 3 yrs. ago. The contractor didn't put the eyeballs back in the returns. I've tried to find replacements, but everyone says I need 1 1/2". The female threaded coupling at the pool surface is an odd size. I tried to confirm the size with pipe plugs. A 1" plug slips into the fitting with only slight contact, not enough for threads to catch. A 1-1/4" plug is too large. Not only that, but the threads in the coupling at the pool surface are finer(more threads per inch) than any standard PVC threaded fitting I've been able to find. Looking inside, the pipe appears to be 1" i.d.
I NEED HELP ON THIS ONE! ANYONE?
