New pool owner- chemicals help

Postby lolo8641 » Mon 05 Apr, 2021 09:34

New here.
I was looking at purchasing this pool. Bestway 13ft x 7ft x 32in Rectangular Frame Above Ground Swimming Pool & Pump

I do not even know the first thing about properly chlorinating or treating a pool. Shall I add we were planning on letting our senior dog use it for rehab so I wanted to make sure I don't kill him with chemicals

You would have to consult a veterinary professional to determine what is acceptable water parameters. I would assume that if it's OK for us then it should be OK for dogs
Use these common products to balance your pool
Liquid chlorine (sodium hypochlorite or plain bleach)
Muriatic acid (hydrochloric acid) to lower pH and TA
Bicarbonate of soda to raise TA
Aeration will raise pH only
Soda ash will raise pH and TA

Dogs claws and a bestway above ground pool is a bad combination.
