Building My Own Pool

Postby Jack Sparrow » Tue 14 Aug, 2007 11:20

Right now I've got a pool, but am considering moving out of state and would like to have one in my next house. As I was riding my John Deere today I had a revelation, why can't a person build their own pool.

I'm a pond builder by trade. As I compare the differences between a pond and a pool, I come to the conclusion there isn't much of a difference. It's a body of water being contained by a liner. The difference is in the maintenance and filtration. A pond uses biological filtration, a pool uses other means (sand in my case). A pool needs chlorination and a pond doesn't (unless you want floating fish). A pool needs proper pH a pond isn't as crucial (although staying within tolerances will promote stronger, healthier fish).

So, what's to keep a person from building their own pool. Geez, you could have one of those really cool looking pools that have a real natural feel.

I'd love to start a dialog on this and get other peoples opinions.

Thanks,
Joe

It's actually not as far fetched as you might think. There are lots of people who have built their own pools and saved easily 1/2 the price.

Check out www. troublefreepool .com, as I know there are several people there that have built there own pools.
