Added flocculant instead of shock!

Hello! First, I know I’m an idiot LOL. I had some trouble with mustard algae stains that didn’t go away after a full week of shocking and brushing with stainless steel algae brush. So, I researched and found cal-hypo shock was the best to use, then bought the HTH green to blue box which had 4 bags of shock and 2 bags of flocculant. I didn’t read the box or instructions and assumed all bags were shock. So naturally, I poured 2 bags of flocculant right into the pool with the pump running. Next day it was murky so I attached my automatic vacuum and let it run for the day, then last night removed the vacuum, backwashed, and decided to just pour the 4 bags of shock in there. Because why not LOL. Today it looks like milk. I read that flocculant can ruin sand in filter. Sand was replaced 2 years ago. Circulation seems good although I’m 10 psi higher than normal. Any advice before I have to replace sand and/or drain pool? Should I backwash again? Or just let it run 24/7 until it clears up? Thanks for any advice!

Sounds like the sand has maximum capacity of dirt hence pressure rise so give it a really good backwash for 3 minutes and 1 on rinse. Note the pressure when you start filtering again and leave it running for 24 hours.
If you really are an idiot I will remind you to turn off the pump before changing the valve position, but you're not so I know you'll remember to turn it off.

The cloudiness after adding 4 bags of chlorine is dead algae. Just keep filtering until all the cloudiness is gone.
