Baquacil and non-chlorine shock

Postby StephanieG » Mon 28 Jun, 2021 03:57

We have an above ground pool and use Baquacil, I was told by my pool company to shock my pool and to use non-chlorine shock. I did this and then read several places online that you cannot use Baquacil and shock together. I haven't been able to find anything online to tell me what the end result of this is and how to fix it now that I have done it. Does anyone have any info/advice?

On top of this we've been dealing with cloudy water since last Sunday, before I used the shock. I've added the recommended calcium and Baquacil Oxidizer, leveled the ph and TA by using Ph Minus, cleaned the filter with product and backwashed it and used the Baquacil Flocculant as filter cleaner twice (not as flocculant, my vacuum doesn't "vacuum to waste")...test strip says sanitizer/algistat is in range and BAQO section on strip goes really dark. PH and alkalinity just came into normal range yesterday.

I'm new to this so any info is helpful, Thank you!
